The Enigma of Encountering Duende, Amor, and the Rising Sun Within The Context of A Glorious Divine Neo-Platonic Universe; 5' x 7' 6"; Oil on Canvas.

In this large canvas, my most recent work, you can view an amalgamation of the Mediterranean tendencies that influence my work: Etruscan and Greco-Romano dignity, the simplicity of Giotto and the Italian Primitives, romantic surrealism, the idyll of the southern Mediterranean Sea, romantic labor, Michelangelo's Neo-Platonic thought, rich, luxuriant color and the rays of a bright Spanish sun; the sun being a symbolic expression of eternal love, which in this case is confronting the mime's duende (which translates into the dark forces rising up from the artist's soul through his or her creation to face life, death and art itself!).
